If no one will move who will?
If not now when?
If it's not us then who?
Who do you think will make Baguio City a better city and be a cleaner and greener state?
Who are the people who would rather stay in their seats and watch?
People of Baguio, my friends my country men, my beloved and honored societies. We are in the middle of the good wind before the storm, and not all of us is ready to face the storm. I as well integrate my self to seek for a new beginning. We are not dumb ass people, we are more stronger than what we think. We are far beyond expectation. Baguio has the highest potential to become a walking city. This reason alone should be enough but of course I will give you a lot more reason why we should think now.
One of it is your family.
Did you ever thought of having or making a better life for your family? Do you have your dad your mom and your younger or older brothers and sisters? Do you have a son or a daughter with your wife at home? Do you often go out for a family dinner? Do you and/or your family walk together going down session road or any other roads? Did you ever think how poisonous it is to breath the air coming from any cars? So how do you think will your future will be if we stayed like this for 10 more years?
The idea of SUMP (Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan) for Baguio was to decrease the number of air pollution. There are a lot of people working together, doing everything they can to push with the plan of course that Includes me.
Second is Tourism
Tourism had dramatically gone down due to the report of WHO (World Health Organization) so what is the effect of it? The effects are lower income for those who rely on tourists to come here in Baguio, Businesses had to come up with the plan to make up for the loss, A Big mark of disgrace on our behalf. Baguio has the name of Summer Capital of the Philippines due to its cold climate, and because of the Study of WHO we lost a lot of income last few months after it was released. Although we may say that it is coming back to life it does not imply anything about our climate and our surroundings. It still hasn't changed, so if you ever thought that Its just a news you are wrong as I said earlier We are in the calm wind before the storm.
Third is our Youth Sector
If you can see what is going on then you might also imagine how many students are there here in Baguio. Big universities like University of the Cordilleras, University of Baguio and Saint Louise University holds the highest number of students, and their students are one who are the ones who are always in the line to breath the awful smoke and pollution. Furthermore I can still remember the words of our National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal, "Ang Kabataan ang Pag-Asa ng Bayan", by his words can't we conclude that we are trying to kill the youth? Keeping them in this kind of surrounding is like making them as test subject. We all need to work together to have a better City and so if you can still feel that your help is not a need then so I'll give you one last reason to join and to help the growing plan.
Fourth is Do you care about your future?
There is a fine line in this question, I would like whoever reads this blog to ask themselves how do you think will your future city? How do you picture out Baguio City or any City in the future? Baguio is not dead though it is dying, If we won't work now when? If we will always look for a reason, don't you think the reasons we see on our surroundings enough to say that we need to move? I ask who ever reads this blog to sign this petition SUMP BAGUIO
Thank you for reading.
